The World's Healthiest Whole some Foods

Seasons form the natural backdrop for eating.  The World's Healthiest Whole some Foods provided by nature are seasonal .

Life always comes a full circle. Where earlier on people ate certain foods only when they were in season, things had changed to an extent where people could buy any type of food from the supermarket, irrespective of its seasonal availability. I eat as close to nature as possible. It’s quite simple when you understand the human body and nature, our ancestors used to eat this way, before the food marketers came along and packaged and sweetened everything up and modified it so  much with colour, toxins and preservatives, making it look irresistible to the market.   But now, once again we are moving back to the old approach, but there’s a marked difference. Earlier people didn’t know any better, and they were not living in a technologically advanced period where non seasonal food was actually available to them, nor where they FAT.

Imagine a vegetable garden in the dead of winter.

Now imagine this same garden on a sunny, summer day.

How different things are during these two seasons of the year! For ecologists, seasons are considered a source of natural diversity. Changes in growing conditions from spring to summer or fall to winter are considered essential for balancing the earth's resources and its life forms. But today it's so easy for us to forget about seasons when we eat! Modern food processing and worldwide distribution of food make foods available year-round, and grocery stores shelves look much the same in Dec as they  do in July. That is why it is best to shop at your local fresh fruit and vege store, because generally speaking they will only stock what Is in season.

In spring, focus on tender, leafy vegetables that represent the fresh new growth of this season. The greening that occurs in springtime should be represented by greens on your plate, spinach, lettuce, basil, parsley

In summer, stick with light, cooling foods in the tradition of traditional Chinese medicine. These foods include fruits like broccoli, cauliflower apple, pear, strawberry, plum,

In Autumn, turn toward the more warming, autumn harvest foods, including sweet potato, carrots, onion, garlic, while emphasizing on the more warming spices ginger, Cayenne, peppercorns, turmeric

In winter, turn even more exclusively toward warming foods even though you think you are eating raw, Remember the principle that foods taking longer to grow are generally more warming than foods that grow quickly. Root vegetables, including sweet potato, carrot, onions, garlic, corn and nuts also fit into here.

The nutrition levels of fresh, seasonal food is very high and it’s not surprising that this level goes down considerably, the longer the food stays unconsumed.
Why  you should opt for seasonal foods? Because they are full of  antioxidants that are so good for you. Antioxidants fight free radicals, keep you young and keep diseases at bay. Choose fresh seasonal berries and indulge in them because they’re exceedingly good for your health.
So, it’s a good idea to eat freshly picked fruit, or freshly harvested produce. By doing so, you will also be supporting the local farmers and local markets, which, in turn, works well for the entire economy.
Supermarkets add gloss to their fruits and vegetables to keep them looking fresh and inviting.

Seasonal foods are a way of reconnecting with the cycle that nature intended for us.

I love my local Harris Farm and Forth Village, where I know there food is fresh daily.
